Job Readiness and Career Advancement Training
Higher is preparing to roll out an array of on-line training modules that will prepare — and in some cases, certify — new Americans who are seeking work or looking to advance in their careers. Training topics include the importance of work for long-term community integration and how to find and keep a job, along with skill-specific training for the hospitality and other industries.
Through a local project in San Diego, Higher provides recertification support to over 300 individuals from a refugee background who live in the area and are looking to re-enter their professions in the United States. As this model is studied and refined, Higher will seek opportunities to expand the prototype to other sites. Higher’s website also makes recertification resources accessible to foreign-trained professionals from other cities.
Job Placement and Support Services
Higher screens candidates and matches them with potential job openings. Recruitment and retention specialists in the field guide the job seeker through the application process and are available for support services to the employer and employee after the placement is made. New American job seekers with work authorization can send their resumes to firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to Higher’s database.
