Billboard Bags - A project of Plywood People that employs refugee women in Clarkston, GA to make bags and other cool stuff out of recycled billboard covers. Read more in a previous Higher blog feature.
A Woven Thread - Rohingya refugees use fair trade silk thread to make braided necklaces and donate part of the proceeds to the charity of their choice. We learned about this inspiring project in Higher’s Seattle workshop. Stay tuned for more soon.
The Open Arms Shop - Refugee women make a living wage and use their tailoring skills to upcycle t-shirts into skirts, scarves and, now, table linens.
Prosperity Candle - Refugee women create the candles, manage the production and finish products made by colleagues in Iraq and Haiti. Read more in a previous Higher blog post.
Providence Granola - Began with the question: what might help newly-arrived refugees start rebuilding their lives in Providence? The answer: artisanal granola local made with the help of refugees from Burundi, Myanmar, and Iraq.
